Instagram and WhatsApp Marketing for Boutiques

Most new boutique customers today find a shop on their phone before they walk in. You do not need an agency or a big budget to be found. You need three free tools, used a little every day. Here is a simple weekly plan that fits around stitching work.

The three tools that matter

  • Instagram shows your work to people who do not know you yet.
  • WhatsApp Business turns those people into orders and keeps regular customers coming back.
  • Google Business Profile puts your shop on Google Maps when someone searches "boutique near me" or "blouse stitching near me".

All three are free. Set them up once, then spend about an hour a day on them.

Set up once

  • Google Business Profile: add your shop name, address, opening hours, phone number and 10 good photos of the shop and your work. Google Business Profile
  • WhatsApp Business: use a separate number for the shop if you can. Add your address and hours, set a greeting message, and build a catalogue with your main items and prices. WhatsApp Business
  • Instagram: switch to a business account. In the bio, write what you stitch, your area and a WhatsApp link, for example: "Bridal and designer blouses, Anna Nagar. Order on WhatsApp".

The weekly plan

DayWhat to postWhy it works
MondayA finished piece, front and back, in good daylightShows your quality
TuesdayA short reel: cutting or stitching, 15 to 30 secondsReels reach new people
WednesdayA tip, such as "3 neck designs for a silk saree blouse"People save and share tips
ThursdayBefore and after an alterationShows skill clearly
FridayA happy customer wearing your work, with her permissionBuilds trust

SundayRest, or reply to messages and commentsQuick replies win orders

Photos that make people message you

  • Shoot near a window in daylight. Avoid tube light, which turns colours dull.
  • Use a plain wall or a clean cloth behind the piece.
  • Show the details up close: neck, piping, hooks, embroidery. Good finishing sells.
  • Keep the same style of photo every time, so your page looks like one shop.

Use WhatsApp well

  • Labels: mark chats as New order, Pending, Ready, Delivered, so nothing gets missed.
  • Quick replies: save answers to common questions: rates, delivery time, address.
  • Status: post the same photos as Instagram. Your regular customers watch your status more than your feed.
  • Festival messages: before Diwali, Pongal, Onam or wedding season, send one message to past customers with your booking last date. Do not send every day; people will block you.

Get Google reviews

When a customer collects a piece and is happy, send her your Google review link on WhatsApp that same day. Reviews are the main reason a shop shows up above others on Google Maps. Reply to every review, good or bad, politely and briefly.

One hour a day 20 minutes taking photos while you work, 20 minutes posting, 20 minutes replying. Done every day for three months, this does more than any one-time advertisement.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Posting photos downloaded from other boutiques. Customers notice, and it is not your work.
  • Showing a customer's face without asking her first.
  • Hiding prices completely. "DM for price" loses many people. Show a starting price.
  • Replying to messages a day late. The customer has already ordered elsewhere.
  • Buying followers. They never order, and they hide your posts from real people.

How to know it is working

Ask every new customer one question: "How did you find us?" Write the answer in your order book. After a month you will know which of the three tools brings orders, and where to spend more time.

Before more orders come in, make sure each one earns you money. Our guide on how to price your boutique stitching work shows a simple method.
